Fox Glacier is famous as one of the best places in New Zealand to do a helicopter flight.
The contrasts are stunning! You take off in the Fox valley, almost at sea level, and within minutes you have climbed to the top of the Southern Alps and the snow fields at the base of Mt Cook/Aorangi and Mt Tasman.
The views are breathtaking, and photographs alone can not adequately convey the panorama of jagged glacial ice fields, rugged mountain peaks and views across the rainforests and out to the Tasman Sea. This is a ‘must do’ New Zealand experience!
Several helicopter companies operate out of Fox Glacier, and offer a variety of flights, from short scenic flights to longer flights that include snow landings.
