Lake Matheson Walk – The FAMOUS MIRROR Lake

World renown for its stunning mirror images of Mts Tasman and Cook, Lake Matheson is best enjoyed in the early morning.

This is when New Zealand’s two highest snow clad peaks get reflected in the water tinted almost black by humus and algae. Easy going track with the advantage of good canopy trees to shelter you if it rains.

Allow 40 min return to jetty Viewpoint or 1hr 40 min for the loop track around the lake. Three separate OFGs available on Lake Matheson deal with small forest plants, rainforest giants and interesting places
